Focused Optics

A new, single LED board design is 72% thinner than the outgoing generation and this places the light source in the same location of the standard halogen filament. This is a critical factor that allows us to focus the light and maximize the reflector / projector to shine down the road where you need it most. Other designs have two boards sandwiched together or have higher lumen claims, but if the source isn't focused, all of that lumen output is just useless and potentially dangerous glare.

Cooler Operating Temperatures

While all LED bulbs run cooler than their halogen counterparts, their electrical components and PCBs are much more sensitive to heat. They require proper engineered cooling to prevent performance degradation. To keep the G3s running at peak output for many years, we've integrated multi-alloy construction including copper boards with an aluminum body and aluminum finned heatsink. In addition, a waterproof, high-speed, ultra-quiet (14.1db @ 1m) Micro Fan keeps the bulbs running at max output.

Reliability

PIAA has been engineering quality, high performance lighting products since 1963. The G3 bulbs were developed with the same philosophy that we have always used: make the best products possible and never compromise. To that end, the G3 bulbs were engineered to withstand the rigors of daily road abuse, constructed with top-notch components and have undergone durability and reliability testing both in the real world as well as in our TÜV Certified testing facility. These tests include 10,000+ on/off cycles, thermal testing from from -22 to +185 degrees Fahrenheit, vibration testing beyond 10G, and Ingress Protection testing. All of this to ensure years of continued performance, backed by a five year warranty.

Installation

The Bulbs and controllers have quick, secure connections and the vehicle-side components use the same style of plugs as OEM bulbs. In addition, G3 controllers include built-in PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) components that eliminate flicker and “Error-out” warning lights in many vehicles. Of course, there are numerous Controller Area Network (CAN, also known as CAN Bus) systems so we can't guarantee compatibility with all vehicles.

Fitment

Throughout extensive research, we have concluded that there is only one way to keep a high-performance LED running at peak output for many years without performance degradation; it needs a fan. Without a fan, there will always be a compromise: less output to get durability and longevity, or high output and a shorter lifespan. To that end, the G3 bulb's fanned heatsink base is larger than a standard halogen bulb, so there may be some vehicles where dust cap modifications are needed. We recommend you inspect the clearance in or behind your vehicle's lights and compare it to our size chart to be sure it will fit.
